The Pictures Speak For Themselves

I'm too tired to write anything substantive so I'll let the pictures from the last few work days speak for themselves. Rafters come down this Thursday.

  1. Looks amazing! Curious, besides all the amazing evidence of craftsmanship have you found an artifacts of previous owners hidden in nooks and crannys anywhere? Such a great thing you have been working on! Well done.

    1. Lots of newspaper (1850s-1950s), a windsor chair arm, buttons, etc. Nothing too crazy. We honestly expected there to be more of that kind of stuff.

      Thanks for your encouragement!

  2. That is some really impressive progress you have made on that project.
I really like the look of those wide boards, they look like they are 14" wide!

Does Eden get to help a bit by picking up nails etc. after you have done the more dangerous jobs at the end of the day?
I know that my boys have always loved to help on big projects like this.

    1. No, Jonas. More like 18"-20". Eden has helped some but the site is 30 minutes away and is becoming increasingly hazardous as we progress. At this point he's mostly a spectator.

  3. Seems like a lot of work now, Joshua, but when its done, you'll have a HOUSE, man! A good one at that! One of those would probably run a good $100K or more these days. So it's time and effort well spent.

Also, slightly jealous. I love old houses and rootin' through walls to see what sorts of treasures and cast-offs you can find.

  4. Great photographs - I am really enjoying seeing the layers being pealed away.
