There Once Was a Boy From Maine

There once was a boy from Maine,
who couldn't quite settle his brain.
He squiggled and squirmed
and learned all he could learn
to drive his poor parents insane.

- Joshua Klein, 2009

  1. I don't think he's ready for carving tools just yet.

Your poem reminds me of the Don White song "Psycho Mom and Dad". We had a good laugh with it when the kids were smaller and now just recite the line"I used to be normal" when we need a reminder. Cindy Kallet's album "leave the Cake in the Mailbox" is another good one.

  2. The first line didn't make it into published comments.

What great spirit (and hopefully joy.)
